The Begining

The beginning.

Many people believe that universe began with the big bang. The question remains, what started the big bang? Physicists believe it may have to do with quantum fluctuations. http://www.space.com/16281-big-bang-god-intervention-science.html. this neatly avoids the Cosmological Argument http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmological_argument

Let us jump forward 13.8 billion years to today and look at some commonly held ideas of what reality is. As you read this you are forming connections in your brain. You are relating every word, idea, and concept to similar words, ideas, and concepts that you have heard before. A common belief is that at some moment in time between our birth and early childhood we gained consciousness. There are some issues with this belief.

Conjecture 1

One issue is that that consciousness is subjective http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subjective_consciousness in fact a major shift in consciousness occurs in almost all humans around the ages of  4 and 5 when they gain the “theory of mind“.  This shift can easily be tested with a box of smarties, a child  and pencil. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_of_mind#Appearance-reality_task . The other problems relates to  the  subject object problem http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subject%E2%80%93object_problem  and the mind body problem http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind–body_problem. Both of these problems are due to thinking of reality in dualistic terms. Non-duality, specifically, neutral monism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutral_monism avoids these problems.

Dualism-vs-Monism

Conjecture 2

consciousness is eternal.  Here is proof.   http://searchformagic.wordpress.com/2006/09/19/logical-proof-that-consciousness-is-eternal/

Conjecture 3

Using Logic to explain reality, is ultimately meaningless because of what the nature of logic is and what the nature of reality is:

Logic is Limit.
It is the study of existing natural limits & how to impose artificial ones.
The only ‘limit’ to logic is that it only works on things or ideas that have been defined (i.e. limited)
Which is to say, if you can’t define what you are talking about, it’s impossible for you to be logical.

Whereas reality includes both material objects and internal thoughts.

Conjecture 4

Time is eternal

Time  is eternal with no direction according to the laws of physics. See Albert Enstein and the Fabric of Time http://everythingforever.com/einstein.htm

I believe that time is like a book with no beginning and no end. Time is the pages in that book. All of the pages exist right now in this moment. The time that the people experience is people moving through those pages. into the next few pages that already exist.  The peoples time through those pages at this instant is only a book marker -TSW

Keeping these 4 conjecture’s in mind I posit that consciousness and time are eternal and are related back to the original quantum fluctuation that created the universe.

non-duality

Having understood consciousness, now lets look at what precedes it; awareness

http://www.meditationexpert.com/consciousness-studies/cs_what_is_consciousness.html

At this point you may have noticed subtle feelings that pull you away from reading.

However by constantly maintaining awareness of all your internal feelings and thoughts as well as your surroundings you will gain an increasingly deeper understanding of the nature of reality.

When you call yourself an Indian or a Muslim or a Christian or a European, or anything else, you are being violent. Do you see why it is violent? Because you are separating yourself from the rest of mankind. When you separate yourself by belief, by nationality, by tradition, it breeds violence. So a man who is seeking to understand violence does not belong to any country, to any religion, to any political party or partial system; he is concerned with the total understanding of mankind.

I like conjecture 4. What if time doesn’t exist. Time could possibly be only a perception that humans can witness. The universe doesn’t care about or perceive time so does it exist? Can the objects and energy in the universe be everywhere at all times?
